What counts as a dental emergency?
Some dental problems can wait for a routine appointment. Others should be assessed by a dentist as soon as possible.
If you are experiencing any of the following, call us and briefly explain what has happened.
Severe toothache
Severe, persistent or worsening tooth pain may be a sign of a problem that needs professional assessment and treatment.
Swelling, abscess or infection
Swelling of the gums, face or jaw — especially when accompanied by pain — may be related to inflammation or a dental infection.
Broken tooth or dental trauma
After a fall, accident or blow to the mouth, broken, loose or displaced teeth should be assessed as soon as possible.
Damaged crown, filling or dental prosthesis
A loose or damaged restoration can cause pain, sensitivity or difficulty when chewing.
Bleeding or discomfort after treatment
If you experience severe pain, persistent bleeding or unusual symptoms after an extraction or another dental procedure, you should seek professional advice.
Other dental emergencies
Not sure whether your problem needs urgent treatment? Call us and briefly explain what is happening. We will advise you on the next steps.
